Core Ministry Teams

What are Core Ministry Teams?

On Sunday 14/8/2005 about 80 people from St Faiths came to a Planning Day. With our Mission Statement/Vision before us “Our desire is to be a community who are transformed by Jesus’ love, fully devoted to loving one another and radically committed to impacting the world with Christ’s love” we split into a number of small groups. Each group discussed a number of key areas of ministry which need to be worked on to achieve our Vision. Those key areas were Evangelism, Pastoral Care, Training, Discipleship, Prayer, Missions, Financial Resources, Teaching, Church Meetings, Community Service, Leadership, Internal Structure and Communication.

Judging from responses to the Church Survey and the key areas at the Planning Day, the Staff and Parish Council decided, as a first step, to create some “Core Ministry Teams”: a team for each of these areas: Evangelism, Pastoral Care, Community Service, Men’s Ministry and Prayer. We will add to these later. (Some Core Ministry Teams are already meeting e.g. Women’s Ministry.)

What do Core Ministry Teams do?

  • Evangelism Core Ministry Team. This team will work on different ideas, methods, styles and strategies for evangelism and decide on how we can implement these initiatives.
  • Pastoral Care Core Ministry Team. This team will work out ways we can help and care for each other at St Faith’s.
  • Community Service Core Ministry Team. This team will seek out ways people from St Faith’s can get involved in the local community and help people and groups that need assistance.
  • Men’s Core Ministry Team. This team will identify issues relevant to men and organise events to provide teaching in these areas.
  • Prayer Core Ministry Team. This team will work on ways to encourage us to pray more.

Some individuals and groups are already operating in these areas and some of these areas overlap. Hopefully, we will be able to organise things so that we can all pull together to achieve our goals.
A member of the Parish Council will be assigned to each Core Ministry Team. His/her role will be to report to the Parish Council to keep them informed and ask for assistance and resources for implementing the plans of each team.

How can I get involved?

You may want to just do Evangelism or Pastoral Care or Community Service etc. without actually being on a Core Ministry Team. That’s fine! Let Steve Ross know by emailing him.

Or you may want to join a Core Ministry Team. That’s fine too!

What happens next?

We need to give people time to prayerfully consider these things. If you have told Steve Ross that you wish to be involved in a particular ministry or join the Core Ministry Team then Steve will speak to the Parish Counsellor for that ministry and he/she or Steve will get back to you before the action begins.
